Sports - love them or hate them we have all watched them and most likely played them at some point in our lives. I grew up playing sports and watching just about everything. As I grew up I realized that the sports world was not made for a six-two and 140lbs young man - so I began to photograph them.
For the last several years sports photography has not only been a passion of mine but as a full time freelance photographer it has been my way to pay the bills - and I would not change that for a second. However, as a creative, sports photography can really put you in a rut.
You are given specific instructions on where you can sit, usually surrounded by 15-30 competing photographers with the exact same equipment as you have covering games that look the same as the one before it and the ones to come.
So as my creative outlet I began bringing my trusty Nikon 35mm cameras to sporting events, much to the amusement of my fellow photojournalists, and creating double exposures.
For me, this is something new. Something I do so I can continue to challenge myself. Something I do because quite honestly it's a blast.
